Killing him solo.
Several times.
Even by yourself, it can take 20+ times to get a green drop.

5-7 times is nothing, and you need to do it solo. fast.

There is no "magic find" in Guild Wars, only lucky people. Best you can do is to keep the party size as small as possible - preferably one.
It might not be easy finding a build that can farm any of the Acolytes though. Even when you do, you will probably have to do at least 25 runs to actually get what you're looking for... I seem to recall someone doing about 70 Fenrir runs before finally seeing a unique drop.

The only way to get greens is to stick at it. Don't stop to merch or switch characters or anything. Keep at it until it drops.
My fiance is incredibly lucky and often gets greens the first kill. I usually have to kill bosses many, many, many, many times. That's how it works for most people. Just stick with it and you'll get it eventually.
As a side note, are you soloing him, or taking hench? If taking hench, are you having them kill his group and then flagging them away? If you're not flagging them off your radar so that they appear grayed out in the party window, they may be stealing your drop.

DO IT IN HARD MODE SOLO!!!
I can't believe you guys didn't already tell the OP this... Hard Mode increases drop rate of rare stuff!
Also, his character/account could have been flagged with the farming code which will reduce the drop rates. To get rid of the farming code, do some missions.
To sum up everything you need to do to increase the drop rate:
1) Flag all heroes and hench out of the compass range or until they are dulled out before killing the boss
2) Make sure you are in hard mode.
3)Your account may have gotten flagged and drop rates could have been reduced on your character. Do some missions or quests to unflag your character.
4) Don't give up, it may take upwards of 20 times before he drops it.

Problem is, it's actually easier to get green scythes than perfect upgrades...
